A Message from the Principal

Dear Students, Families, and Community Members,

It is my honor to welcome you to our Middle and High School. As someone who grew up on the Spokane Indian Reservation and graduated from Wellpinit High School, this school and community hold a special place in my heart. The experiences, relationships, and cultural values I gained here continue to guide me in my role as principal.

For the past nine years, I have had the privilege of serving our students, families, and staff. During that time, I have remained committed to creating a school environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. We believe that education is most meaningful when it reflects who our students are—their identities, their strengths, and their connections to community and culture.

Our school is dedicated to academic excellence, personal growth, and cultural pride. We strive to provide engaging community partnerships because our students are part of more than the school. They are part of our Tribe and community. A hope of ours is that learning opportunities challenge students while also honoring the traditions and values of the Spokane Tribe. Through strong relationships, high expectations, and a focus on student well-being, we work to prepare our students for success in school and beyond.

I am proud of the resilience, talent, and potential of our students, and I am grateful for the partnership we share with families and the community. Together, we can continue to build a school that reflects our shared values and supports every student’s journey.

Thank you for being an essential part of our school community.

Sincerely,

Laina Walker Principal
